African Plant Nutrition Scholarships 2023 for African students

African Plant Nutrition Institute (APNI) is inviting applications for the African Plant Nutrition Scholar Award 2023 from graduate students currently studying in institutions located in Africa. The institute will award USD $2,000 each to ten deserving African graduate students in sciences relevant to plant nutrition and the management of nutrients applied to crops

About the Award

There are ten awards of USD $2,000 each available to deserving African graduate students studying plant nutrition and nutrient management.

Students will receive the award directly from the Foundation. The recipient will not be required to perform any specific duties.

Regardless of any assistantship, scholarship, or other award the student currently holds, the Award will be granted.

Eligibility

Students who are graduate students are eligible if they meet the following criteria:

  • I am currently enrolled in an African institution that grants degrees.
  • As of the application deadline, candidates for M.Sc., M.Phil., or Ph.D. degrees must be currently enrolled in a graduate program. Applicants must be M.Sc. or M.Phil students who are in the second year of their studies. Candidates who have already completed their degrees are not eligible.
  • Applicants should have a background in soil science, agronomy, horticulture, or tree crop science with a focus on plant nutrition.
  • Past winners of the Award are not eligible.

Requirements

To complete the application process, you must submit the following in either English or French:

  • Transcripts of all university work, including grade records (GPA or percentile).
  • Send two letters of support, one of which should come from the major professor. It is mandatory to sign and write letters on official letterhead, as well as include the writer’s phone number and e-mail address.
  • Describe the focus of your thesis or dissertation research in a way that allows for evaluation of its originality, depth, scope, innovative approaches, and relevance.
  • Include any additional information relevant to the award (such as honors or awards you have received, employment history, career goals, and other activities you pursue).
