Wits-TUB-UNILAG Urban Lab Scholarships 2023 for sub-Saharan African nationals

Wits-TUB-UNILAG scholarship applications for sub-Saharan African nationals are due on 30 September 2023. The application deadline for admission to the MUS (UM) is 31 July 2023. The scholarships are available for the 1 year full-time Master of Urban Studies (UM) degree at Wits University in Johannesburg, supported by the Wits-TUB-UNILAG Urban Lab. It is open to applicants from countries outside South Africa that are part of the sub-Saharan African region. We will make a separate call for South African citizens shortly.

Wits-TUB-UNILAG Urban Lab Scholarships 2023 for sub-Saharan African nationals

Scholarship applications must include proof of application for assessment of their degrees by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) for applicants whose highest degree was not obtained in South Africa.

SDG implementation in urban areas is addressed by four innovation areas addressed by the scholarship program:

  • Politics and Policy of the Urban
  • Understanding complex urban systems
  • Managing change processes
  • Co-producing knowledge between theory and practice.

The living allowance will be paid in May 2024, so selected students will have to be self-sufficient from February to April 2024.

Their accommodation in Johannesburg, travel to Johannesburg, and other respective costs will be their responsibility.

During the first half of the academic year, expenses will be reimbursed.

VALUE, PERIOD, AND CONDITIONS OF THE SCHOLARSHIP

One academic year is covered by the master’s scholarship. The scholarship includes:

  • Full tuition fee
  • Monthly stipend covering living expenses
  • Travel from home country/ place of origin
  • Student medical aid

In order to apply for the scholarship, students must pay their SAQA fees. You will not receive a refund for your SAQA fees.

In the event that no or no scholarship awards are made by Wits-TUB-UNILAG, the university reserves the right to not make them.
