MSI at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg is seeking highly motivated and driven postgraduate master’s candidates.
Research-based position developing new electrocatalysts for alkaline water splitting that are scalable, affordable, and recyclable.
It is a full-time position for a period of 24 months.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A BSc Honours degree or equivalent in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with an average pass rate of at least 75%
- Within the last three years, you have completed a BSc Honours degree.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Electrocatalyst fabrication
- Material characterization and analysis
- Alkaline electrochemical water splitting with electrocatalysts
- Compile a Master’s dissertation
KEY COMPETENCIES:
- Electrochemistry experience, knowledge, or interest
- Interested in material science
- Good writing and communication skills
- Willingness to learn new technologies
- Language proficiency (English) to function optimally in Wits’ multilingual environments.
REMUNERATION
R162 000 tax free stipend per annum
