Wits-TUB-UNILAG Urban Lab Scholarships 2023-24 for sub-Saharan African nationals
Applications for the Wits-TUB-UNILAG scholarship are now open, and the deadline for applications is 30 September 2023.
Applications for admission to the MUS (UM) are due on 31 July 2023. The
Scholarships are available for the 1 year full-time Master of Urban Studies (UM) at Wits University in Johannesburg, supported by the Wits-TUB-UNILAG Urban Lab.
The call is open to applicants from countries in sub-Saharan Africa other than South Africa. There will be a separate call for South African citizens in the near future.
The scholarship application must include proof of application for assessment of their degrees by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) for all applicants whose highest degree was not obtained in South Africa.
There are four innovation areas covered by the scholarship program that address SDG implementation in urban areas:
- Politics and Policy of the Urban
- Understanding complex urban systems
- Managing change processes
- Co-producing knowledge between theory and practice.
The living allowance will be paid in May 2024, so selected students will need to be self-sufficient from February to April 2024.
It will be their responsibility to arrange their accommodation and travel to Johannesburg, as well as other costs associated with their stay in Johannesburg.
During the first half of the academic year, the expenses will be refunded.
VALUE, PERIOD AND CONDITIONS OF THE SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarships for master’s degrees last for one academic year. The scholarship includes:
- Full tuition fee
- Monthly stipend covering living expenses
- Travel from home country/ place of origin
- Student medical aid
For students applying for the scholarship, they must pay for SAQA fees. The SAQA fee will not be refunded.
Scholarship awards may not be made at all or at all but the Wits-TUB-UNILAG reserves the right not to make any scholarship awards at all.
