PURPOSE OF JOB / ROLE INTENT
Management, leadership, organization, and control of production, as well as providing the leadership required to create a high-performance team.
In his/her area of responsibility, perform the statutory duties as defined by Regulation 2.15.1.

 1.    (Safe Production) –Carries out on a day to day basis – planning, organising,

2. Implements operational projects, ensures operating compliance to Standard
        Operating Procedures (SOP) in appointed area of responsibility
- Â Â Â Ensures adherence to Operating principles and legislation.
Compliance to governance bodies (standardisation committees)
- SOP / COP implementation and adherence
3.      Ensures availability of spares, equipment and resources required to ensure
         Achieving optimal production, including timekeeping electronically
- Total cost of ownership (TCO)
- Electronic time keeping system adherence
4.      Provides first line solutions to employees reporting to him / her on any technical
         related problem
- Problems resolved
- Failure trend analysis and root cause elimination
5.      Ensure safe production by coordinating departmental efforts
         Developing a plan for the area of responsibility assigned to you.
- Rand per ton (R/t), Tons per CM per shift (t/cm/shift)
- Volumes vs. monthly TQF (Including Quality)
6.      (Finance) – Controlling costs to ensure production volumes are met
          budget.
- Delivery against budget and reporting calendar vs. target
7.      Ensure that safety performance is of the highest quality and continuously improve it
          To maintain required RCR, key safety metrics must be monitored.
- SHE compliance rates vs. targets (especially major findings), % outstanding actions on findings

8.      Provide on the job training, coaching and career development

MAJOR CHALLENGES / PROBLEM SOLVING
- Contributing to the safe production of the mine within the budgeted allowances
- Â Â Balance between production targets and maintenance practices in engineering maintenance.
- Maintaining relationships between the mining and engineering departments.
- Maintaining compliance with various legal requirements and engineering principles
- Â Â in the operational environment.
- A high-skilled workforce is essential to manage the complexity that comes along with the infusion of new technology.
- Managing service providers in the area of responsibility, providing them with services
- Â Â Supervision must be sufficient.
- A management of the supply and procurement side of the operational environment.
OPERATING ENVIRONMENT
- This position has a 2.15.1 legal appointment and is accountable for managing the
- operational solutions and governance within the area of appointment at a mine within a
- Â highly regulated industry.
- Remote locations, equipment, and infrastructure are underground and may be located above ground
- To meet production targets, the availability must be managed over a wide area.
- Complex interfaces with contractors and suppliers also exits.
- Analysis, interpretation, and integration of information from various sources is necessary for effective decision-making
- trade-off decisions in the best interest of the area of responsibility.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Grade 12 with Maths and Science (Must)
Red Ticket
Certificate in Blasting for Fiery Mines, (Must)
Gas Testing, Competent A, First Aid
Mining Engineering Diploma (Wish)
Valid drivers license (Must)
Minimum 2 years total relevant experience as a Shiftboss
