A total of six coal mines are operated by Sasol Mining that supply feedstock for our integrated value chain in Southern Africa.

In addition to being used as a gasification feedstock, some of the coal supplied to Secunda Synfuels Operations (SSO) is also used to generate electricity.

In addition to generating electricity and steam, coal is supplied to Sasolburg Operations (SO). By way of the Richards Bay Coal Terminal, we also export coal from Twistdraai Export Plant to international power generation customers.

ABOUT THE ROLE / PURPOSE OF THE JOB

In this position, you will support Full Calendar Operations (Fulco).

For the mining teams to achieve production targets within the principles of the QCDSM, an Artisan/Senior Artisan manages the maintenance process within their area of responsibility.

FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS

• Ensure that equipment in the area of responsibility is controlled and maintained
• Safety management and risk assessment
• Ensure that COPs and SOPs are understood and adhered to
• Identify ISO standards
• A realistic and accurate maintenance plan and budget
• Ensure maximum availability and reliability of equipment
• Conformance to all legal statutory and Sasol requirements
• Providing specific expertise, in-section training, and complex repair services
• Evaluate personnel training needs schedule for training
• Coach sub-ordinates towards requirements for next highest level

 

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications and expertise required (Must):

• Grade 12/N3 in Math, Science, and English/Business English (or equivalent)
• EM/Millright Trade Test Certificate (Valid NQF4 Trade Test Certificate)
• Flame proofing and gas testing where applicable
• Fault finding experience
• A working knowledge of the work management process and its implementation (wish)
• Learn how to use the plant/mine maintenance documentation system, etc., task lists, job cards, etc.
• Understand failure modes of discipline specific equipment
• Computer literate (wish)
• It is an added advantage if you have experience working in a coal mine underground (Fiery mine)
