The Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development invites applications for the vacant position of SENIOR COMMUNICATION OFFICER REF NO: 3/2/1/2023/317.

CENTRE: North West (Mmabatho)

REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates must possess a Grade 12 Certificate and a National Diploma in Communication / Journalism / Public Relations / Marketing. A minimum of two years experience in a communication environment is required.

Job-Related Knowledge: Policy and legislation governing communication.

Job-Related Skills: Computer Literacy. Organizing skills. Problem-solving skills. Time management skills. Communication skills (verbal and written).

Analytical skills. Presentation skills. A valid driver’s licence. Ability and willingness to travel extensively. Ability to work efficiently and effectively at all times.

DUTIES: 

Assist in the development of content management strategies for websites. Assist in the development of the Department’s online communication plan and other branding elements.

Provide pictorial material and successful projects for 22 publications on both the department’s Facebook page and website.

Answer questions regarding online communication. In accordance with our client liaison master plan, implement a communications strategy.

Respond to media inquiries in accordance with standard communication procedures. Enhance online communication through the development of methods.

Establish norms and standards for online communications. Post pictures of successful projects on the department’s Facebook page and website.

Manage a communication system and a database for various stakeholders. Update the media database in the North West Province that is active and existing.

Maintain a good working relationship with media houses to ensure positive coverage. Liaise with various branches to manage website and intranet content.

Maintain the target group’s support through all available communication channels. Material from Branches for publication is subject to quality assurance.
