Transnet Is Hiring A Cargo Coordinator
The Transnet Operations department is hiring and invites applications for the position of Cargo Coordinator.
- Location:Â Port Elizabeth
Job Purpose
To inspect and verify cargo and record details for revenue purposes so the correct cargo is shipped and landed to avoid claims. (Sea side).Assure and verify that cargo is stacked and arranged correctly (land side).
Job outputs
- Instructions for handover and loading should be obtained
- General Workers should be assigned to hook up
- Using Tally Sheet, check incoming and outgoing cargo
- Ensure that port workers are hooking up correctly
- Report of incident / accident
- Check the cargo/container on the truck for damage
- Using HHT, scan the container (P-check) into NAVIS
- Fill out the Container Inspection Form (CIR) for damage to the container/s
- Examine landing orders for cargo despatch
- Instruct the driver to uplift the cargo once it has been located
- Place dunnage (specialized gear) by instructing port workers
- Comparing the shipping order from the driver with the one in possession
- Stack cargo according to the stack plan
- Agent to provide list of cargo to be loaded onto rail trucks
- All breakdowns / accidents should be reported
- Identify vessels that are working
- Â If necessary, attend board meetings
- Obtain the manifest 72 hours before the vessel arrives
- Examine manifests and obtain landing orders
- Verify that the cargo goes to the right customer by comparing landing orders to manifests
- From the wharf, obtain the (tally)
- Follow up on short-landed cargo.
- Waterside Safety and Environment
- Record delays on the delay sheet Break Bulk (only)
- Deliver the delivery note to the driver (Break Bulk)
- Make sure the truck mass is not exceeded (Break Bulk)
- The loading out list must be completed and the trucks must be closed (Break Bulk)
- Prepare truck labels (Break Bulk)
- Â Compare tallies with manifest (break bulk)
Qualifications & Experience
- Matriculation or Level 4 of the NQF
- An understanding of port operations, maritime services, or warehouse television.
- A cargo controller certificate is an advantage
