Project Coordinator REQUIREMENTS:
The applicant must possess a Grade 12 certificate and a National Diploma in Agricultural Management, Agricultural Economics, or Development Studies.
A minimum of three years’ experience as a supervisor in cooperatives or enterprise development.
Job-Related Knowledge:
A good understanding of budget management and the ability to interpret it. Knowledge of legislation and procedures related to land reform programs within the department.
Job-Related Skills:
Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing). Ability to manage people. Skills in negotiation. Skills in performance management. Skills in conflict resolution.
Facilitation Skills.
Capacity-building skills. Skills in financial management. The ability to read, analyze, and interpret maps.
Valid driver’s license. Travel and irregular work schedules are acceptable.
DUTIES:Â
The development of cooperatives should be identified and facilitated.Secondary cooperatives can be formed by combining primary cooperatives.
Maintain cooperatives database by coordinating with commodity associations and other stakeholders.
Build partnerships between state and private sector institutions. Facilitate the development of business plans for funding. Cooperatives should develop a monitoring tool and strategy.
Create an internal governance structure and constitution, facilitate training on adherence, and ensure compliance with the Cooperatives Act, No. 14 of 2005.
Provide support to new and existing cooperatives (Establishment, registration, constitution, training, monitoring).
Provide training on cooperative governance and business management. Support the development of enterprise operational and compliance systems.
Training plans and manuals for cooperatives should be developed. Managing the partnership arrangements. Reporting template should be developed.
Support cooperatives in complying with the Cooperative Act, including holding Annual General Meetings (AGMs) and submitting financial records to the South African Revenue Services (SARS).
Develop a cooperative development strategy for the Department by identifying market opportunities. Cooperatives should identify local, national, and international markets.
Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) provides branding assistance to cooperatives. Obtain export certificates for cooperatives so they can sell their products abroad.
Ensure quality and quantity of goods/produce are produced at the appropriate time for the cooperative. Cooperative Financing Institutions should be developed toward the formation of cooperative banks.
Provide cooperatives with workshops on understanding the cooperative’s financial institution. Promote the development of a saving culture among cooperatives.
Connect the cooperative with relevant institutions for the establishment of a banking facility. Develop rural enterprises and industries in coordination.
Link entrepreneurs with various entities to support their development, such as financial and non-financial support. Small, medium, and micro enterprises (SMMEs) workshops should be organized.
Developing small and medium-scale agro-processing programs. Agro-processing business entities should be identified.
Provide them with assistance and development through relevant institutions. Develop skills development programs in cooperation with relevant institutions, such as the sector education and training authority, for example. Ensure that relevant legislation is followed.
