City of Johannesburg Trainee Chartered Accountants Programme 

Creating more professional training opportunities for prospective Chartered Accountants is a priority for the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality.

Training in financial management and all its disciplines will be provided to trainees, as well as exposure to a wide range of local government business operations and management functions as a result of the program.

In order to retain local government trained chartered accountants, the programme is designed to strengthen the sector’s financial skills base.

Structure Of The Programme

PROGRAM STRUCTUREional training programme has been structured in a manner that offers the trainees exposure in key areas with Accounting and External Reporting being the core competency received and specialisation in Financial Management and Management Decision-Making and Control as electives

Trainees will be offered competitive market-related salaries.

Minimum Requirements

  • A Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA) from a SAICA accredited university; Grade 12 (NQF 4);
  • An experience of 0 – 1 year;
  • Johannesburg residents will be given preference.
  • Become eligible to write the ITC exam.
