The Mintek Graphic Design internship program offers an exciting career opportunity. The incumbent will assist the Information & Communications Department with graphic design and other digital and media related tasks.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
In this program, students who have completed their undergraduate degrees are provided with practical work experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop graphic materials for reprographics/print and electronic distribution.
- Create digital presentations, maps, charts, logos, technical drawings, and digital content for the website.
- Page design and lay-out for print and electronic newsletters.
- The design and preparation of printed and electronic artwork
- Scan of various materials (documents, negatives, positives, transparencies), conversion between file formats, and image optimisation.
- Use computer software to generate new images.
- To prepare layouts for printing, mark up, paste, and assemble final layouts.
- Using a computer, create charts, graphs, illustrations, and other artwork.
- Discuss and determine layout design with clients.
- Layouts for clients are created by entering information into computer equipment.
- Illustrations or rough sketches should be prepared, discussed with clients and/or the head and any changes made as needed.
- To plan the presentation of materials, products, or services, study illustrations and photographs.
- Prepare notes and instructions for workers assembling and preparing final layouts.
- Equipment and tools for developing negatives and prints are used to produce layout photographs.
- Photograph layouts, using camera, to make layout prints for supervisors or clients
JOB KNOWLEDGE /SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Computer Literacy in:
- Adobe Suite in Design, Photoshop, Illustrator and Digital Apps,
- MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Knowledge of photography
- Flexibility between digital and print media
- Sound communication skills
- Good client interface skills
- Attention to detail
- Willingness to learn
- Must be able to work under pressure
- Must be willing to work overtime when required
- Fluent is spoken and written English
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor’s degree in graphic design or an equivalent degree (NQF level 7).
- Excellent academic record: 60% average
