SASSETA and the Law Society of South Africa invite unemployed legal graduates to apply for the Work Integrated Learnership 2023.

There is an opportunity for university graduates to participate in the Law Society of South Africa’s Work Integrated Learning Programme | Candidacy Programme

You can apply by completing the online application form (link above), once you have submitted, you will receive a confirmation email confirming we have received your application.

If all the required documents are not attached, your application will not be considered.

Instruction: Before completing the online application form, scan the required documents – this simplifies the process. Save them under the title of the document, such as “Certified Fidelity Fund Certificate of the Law Firm”. Below you will find a list of the required documents

Documents to be attached

  • Certified Fidelity Fund Certificate of the law firm
  • If applicable, a certified copy of the law firm’s registration
  • A certified copy of the candidate’s highest qualification, such as a degree or a law degree.
  • Certified copy of the Identity Document of the graduates
  • Valid Tax Clearance Certificate of the law firm
  • Proof of residence
  • (affidavit) Financials: Combined household gross annual income before taxes
  • (Affidavit) Social background: Priority is given to candidates whose background has impeded access to equal education, especially those from rural areas or informal settlements.
  • (affidavit) Education background: Students who attended schools that are deemed to be disadvantaged, but have nevertheless completed a university education.
  • (Affidavit) Personal reasons why the applicant should be subcontracted

This criterion is recommended for consideration in order to ensure a fair selection process.

  • Candidates should be 35 years and younger
  • Eighty percent of the candidates should be black women
  • Neither candidates nor firms should be contacted by members of the selection committee
  • Candidates who have already registered their articles will not be considered
  • A valid resume should be submitted by the law firm that will host the candidate:
    1. Tax Clearance Certificate

    2. Valid Fidelity Fund Certificate

    3. Company registration/ Sole proprietorship

  • Ensure that candidates and firms from all provinces, including rural areas, are represented according to the funds received
  • Priority should be given to candidates from previously disadvantaged backgrounds (affidavit)
  • For a given year, law firms should disclose how many candidates they already have on staff
  • (Official Affidavit) Financial: Combined gross household income before income taxes
  • (Affidavit) Social background: Priority is given to candidates whose background has impeded access to equal education, especially those from rural areas or informal settlements.
  • (affidavit) Education background: Students who attended schools that are deemed to be disadvantaged, but have nevertheless completed a university education.
  • (Affidavit) Personal motivations for subventing the candidate
