South African Reserve Bank Graduate Internship: SARB invites productive and talented postgraduates to apply for its Graduate Development Programme in 2023.

What the programme is about
- Exposure to SARB departments
- Students will work at SARB’s Head Office from January to December 2023. Various tasks and projects will be assigned to them as they are assigned to a department.
- At the SARB Academy, graduates will participate in various learning interventions. The interventions are primarily directed at central banks and are designed to produce well-rounded central bankers.
- Furthermore, graduates will learn how to create impactful PowerPoint presentations, teamwork, as well as assertive communication, public speaking, and etiquette as part of the holistic programme.
After the first year
At the end of the year, some graduates will be permanently appointed to SARB departments. There is a high probability of appointment for graduates who:
- The SARB offers a career path for those who are interested.
- Have a desire to contribute to the SARB’s enabling functions, including monetary policy, financial stability, currency management, supervision of financial institutions, and financial markets.
- Behaved in accordance with SARB values such as accountability, excellence, integrity, respect, and trust.
- Ability to function independently and contribute to a team actively and effectively.
- Their academic performance and performance in their assigned departments is outstanding.
Job Requirements
Candidates with postgraduate degrees in the following fields are invited to apply:
Economics, econometrics, research, policy analysis, public finance, accounting, auditing, statistics, financial management, information technology, law, portfolio or investment management, mathematics, quantitative analysis, business analysis, project management, risk management (operational and financial risk), Treasury, or international relations.
You meet the requirements if you
- Having completed a postgraduate degree.
- You must have attained an average of at least 65% in your final year of study.
- Working in financial services or policymaking is something you are passionate about.
- A proven academic track record.
- Interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills.
- Currently reside in South Africa.
- Learn quickly and with curiosity.
