Job Description
Taking on this role requires curiosity, a passion for learning on the job, and being managed to build up a skill set that allows one to confidently test Sage products and services.
Graduate Test Engineers must adhere to the team’s processes and standards as well as develop an understanding of testing practices and principles as part of their job duties.
In order to accurately record and communicate issues found during test phases and accurately track time spent on tasks during the project, the Graduate Test Engineer must work closely with the delivery team.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

Gain an understanding of how customers use the products under test

Discover formal testing principles, approaches, and test automation tools and techniques, such as rapid software testing, security testing, usability testing, load testing, and automation principles.

Seek to learn and demonstrate a level of understanding of the system under test to allow creation of test artefacts

Follow a test plan and execute against this in a timely manner to deliver on sprint goals

Deliver products and/or components in a timely manner by creating test artefacts that maximize the efficiency of the test phase.

Maintain existing test automation scripts for the product or component under test

Continuously improve your knowledge of products and/or components

Show a thorough understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle and continuous improvement of its practices

Carry out such tasks as directed to meet the needs of the business
Skills, know-how and experience:
Must have:
-
A high level of attention to detail in all aspects of work. Testers may notice pixel misalignment, inaccuracies in legislative calculations, or subtle differences in performance.

Good problem solving always providing logical solutions and options
-
Ability to communicate clearly with all stakeholder levels, including direct customers, and to record issues accurately

An understanding of different testing approaches and when each should be used throughout a project’s different phases.

A rapid ‘pick up and learn’ approach that will ensure valuable contributions to any team within days of joining
Preferred:
-
Extensive experience with testing and the design and implementation of test artifacts
-
Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle and the methodologies that can be used
-
ISTQB certification
Technical / professional qualifications:

Computer Science (or related degree/qualification)
