Constitutional Court of South Africa: Law Clerks intake for 2024/2025
For the year 2024/2025, the Constitutional Court invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of Law Clerk.
CLOSING DATE:Â 31 March 2023.
SALARY: R 393 711.00 in salary plus 37% in lieu of benefits is the salary for these contract positions. The employee does not receive any other benefits.
Depending on the needs of each Justice, appointments are made between January 2024 and December 2024 or July 2024 and June 2025.

REQUIREMENTS:Â To qualify for the above position, applicants must

be South African citizens

It is essential that candidates possess a Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate and a LLB Degree, or any other equivalent legal qualification at NQF Level 8 with 480 credits as recognized by SAQA, or be in the final year of their studies for the same.

Applicants should display an interest in courses relating to constitutional law.

Academic excellence and research experience will be an added advantage.
DUTIES:Â The Constitutional Court is assisted by two Law Clerks who perform legal research for each Justice.

A recent, comprehensive curriculum vitae (CV);

All qualifications (Grade 12 (Matric) certificate, high education qualifications, and academic records/transcripts);

A letter of recommendation from three referees who can be contacted (including their names, emails, and telephone numbers); and

The applicant’s written work that is between 6-12 pages in length, demonstrating his or her legal research, writing, and critical thinking skills.
Following communication from Human Resources, only shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified copies of qualifications and other related documents.
Application forms must be fully completed, signed, and initialled by the applicant.
A list of applicants shortlisted for interview will be sent by June/July 2023. It is your responsibility to consider your application unsuccessful if you do not receive a response by that date.
On or before the day of the interview, only shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified copies of the required documents.
A personal suitability check/vetting process will be conducted on suitable candidates (criminal background check, qualification verification, citizenship check, and reference checks).
It is required that applicants who are successful relocate and find their own accommodations as well as meet any transportation requirements as well as all associated costs.
