South African Breweries: Control & Automation Graduate Trainee Programme 2023
Applications are now being accepted for the Control & Automation Trainee Programme 2023 at the South African Breweries (SAB ABInBev).
Location: Polokwane and Prospection
Control & Automation trainee programme is a structured 18-month programme designed to help graduates acquire technical skills and experience as well as familiarize themselves with company culture.
A person who has completed the programme should be able to be assigned an area of responsibility immediately.
Key outputs and responsibilities:
- During the Technical Traineeship, the Trainee is expected to gain a thorough understanding of the theory, principles, and processes behind Control & Automation.
- Apply VPO principles
- Participation in team structures including acting in designated positions, e.g., maintenance, planning, and control
- Competent in VPO, Engineering Safety, Safety & Environment, Control & Automation Generic Modules
- As part of the Engineering C&A Training Programme, complete identified projects
- Plant environment projects aligned with brewery priorities and program requirements
- Diagnosis of systemic and situational problems and troubleshooting
- Communication of learnings and solutions across various levels of the business
Outputs
- Control and automate manufacturing processes, databases, and applications to ensure sustained integrity and stability of the environment.
- Enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and functionality of manufacturing systems by proactive optimization
- Lead users through manufacturing systems interventions and change
- Work in teams
- Coach, guide and assist with training of all production employees
- Facilitation, project management, and development of production-related systems and/or reports
- Ensure alignment of the manufacturing systems environment with the manufacturing systems strategy
- Identify and motivate technical CAPIN justification
- The improvement of manufacturing systems, process control, and database knowledge within the production department
- Understand and assist with network, IT support and process control
Competencies
- An understanding of systems, object-oriented programming languages, SQL databases, process modelling, report development, and conceptual design/automation
- PLC Programming knowledge (Siemens S7)
- Extensive knowledge of business processes
- Ability to implement effective problem solving
- Sound organizational skills
- Good facilitation skills
- Team player with outstanding interpersonal skills
- A good understanding of the Change Management Process
- Enquiring and analytical thinking ability
- Highly assertive

- Knowledge of relevant international standards (e.g. S88, ANSI-SQL)
Minimum Requirements:
BSc\BTech in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent tertiary qualification
A minimum of two to three years of relevant experience in manufacturing systems control and automation
