Driver/Messenger job vacancy at KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government

For the position of DRIVER I MESSENGER, the KwaZulu-Natal Department: of Community Safety and Liaison is hiring.

• SALARY: R 151 884 per annum (SALARY LEVEL 4)

• CENTRE: DURBAN

POST REQUIREMENTS: A Junior Certificate or equivalent qualification, along with a minimum of one year of driving experience.

Driver’s license with a PDP that is valid for a C1. The driving experience acquired in reputable organizations with traceable references will be an advantage.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES: Knowledge of the procedures to operate a motor vehicle, including obtaining trip authorities, completing logbooks, obtaining consumables (e.g. petrol), and obtaining basic services (e.g. fixing a flat tire),

Understanding the guidelines for the proper use of a motor vehicle, such as how and for what purpose the vehicle can be used, what is the vehicle’s storage requirement, etc.

Maintaining a motor vehicle properly requires knowledge of the procedures,

Working knowledge of messenger functions and routine office support such as photocopying and registry functions.

The ability to drive, the ability to interact with people, and the ability to communicate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for driving and messenger duties for the Head of Department / MEC’s office.

Drive a light or medium motor vehicle. Provide messenger support in the relevant office.

Keep all required and prescribed records and logbooks regarding the vehicle and the goods.

Do routine maintenance on the allocated vehicle.

Candidates who are shortlisted will have to undergo a driving competency test.
