Here are the dates for your Sassa grant payout in April 2023

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) will pay its beneficiaries next week, starting with the old age grant payments on Tuesday.

Payments for disability grants will be made on Wednesday, and payments for social relief of distress (SRD) and other grants will be available on Thursday.

The dates on which the recipients will receive their grants in April have been confirmed by Sassa. In accordance with the agency, payments will be made on:

  • Tuesday, April 4 — old age grants;
  • Wednesday, April 5 — disability grants; and
  • Thursday, April 6 — all other grants will be paid from this date, including the children’s grant.

Cash withdrawals do not need to be made on the first day. As soon as the money is in the account, it will remain there until needed,” Sassa said.

Grant increases

As of April 1, the older person grant for beneficiaries between 60 and 74 will be increased to R2,080. The rate will increase on October 1 to R2,090. October 1 will see the distribution of R2,100 and R2110 to beneficiaries over 75.

On October 1, the disability grant will increase to R2,080 and to R2,090.

From October 1, the child support grant will increase from R500 to R510, while the foster care grant will increase from R1,120 to R1,130.

There will be an increase in the care dependency grant to R2,080. The price will increase to R2,090 on October 1.

On October 1, the war veterans grant will increase to R2,100 and then to R2,110.

Gold card swap

South African Post Office branches are open on Mondays and Tuesdays for those whose gold cards expire this month.

According to Sassa, the department will issue cards to old age grant recipients and people receiving disability grants on Mondays and Tuesdays.

On Wednesdays through Saturdays, new gold cards will be collected for those receiving child support grants and all other grants.

Beneficiaries must bring a South African ID and the gold card expiring to receive a new one.

“Recipients will be assisted in activating their new cards and choosing a new PIN via Post Office branch staff, and the cards will operate immediately for withdrawals or other transactions.

“Post offices will only issue new gold cards to the person in whose name the expiring card was issued.

“You cannot collect a gold card on behalf of another unless you are registered with Sassa as a procurator (a person or agent registered with Sassa to receive or collect a social grant on behalf of another).”
