Gauteng Community Safety warns prospective applicants against fake internship programme
Earlier this week, the Gauteng Department of Community Safety warned the public, especially potential intern applicants, about a false advertisement misrepresenting the department’s internship program.
A link circulated on social media platforms and other channels announcing that the department is seeking 117 young people between the ages of 18 and 35.
The fake advertisement also asks unsuspecting applicants to enter their identity number into a bogus online application.
In response to the false advertisement, Department spokesperson Ofentse Morwane advised prospective interns to exercise caution.
In addition, prospective applicants should know that the department will never ask them for money to get a job. It is imperative to report all elements of corruption to the nearest police station.”

According to Morwane, all provincial government jobs are advertised on reputable platforms such as the Gauteng Provincial Government’s job portal and the Department of Public Service and Administration’s vacancy circular, which lists positions across all levels of government, both national and provincial.
A new internship programme was recently promoted by the department for fiscal years 2023-2025. Application forms must be submitted in person to the Gauteng Department of Community Safety, 25 Pixley ka Seme Street, Marshalltown, 2107,” said Morwane.
